Man in hospital as car ‘ploughs into house’ and shuts key Burton road
A man was taken to hospital after a car reportedly smashed into a terrace house in a midday smash - which shut a busy Burton road. Emergency services were scrambled to Branston Road yesterday afternoon to reports a vehicle had ploughed into a building.
As reported by StaffordshireLive[1], police taped the road off with several patrol cars spotted at the scene. Meanwhile images from the incident showed a car with a heavily damaged front end.
Today and West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed one patient was treated at the scene before being taken to Queen's Hospital. The alarm had been raised at 1.35pm to reports a car had smashed into a house close to the junction of Lonsdale Road and Burton Road.
An ambulance service spokesman said: " One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, from the car. He was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Queens Hospital, Burton."
Today and residents on the stretch say barriers remain in place however it is unclear whether the closure has been fully lifted. Google Map is showing delays in the area.
We have contacted East Staffordshire Borough Council and Staffordshire Police over the incident.
