Man in his 60s dies after collision with lorry

A man has died following a collision with a lorry on the county bound carriageway of the A453 near Ratcliffe-on-Soar. The man, in his 60s, was driving a blue Renault Kangoo and was pronounced dead at the scene. Leicestershire Police[1] are appealing for dash cam footage.

The incident happened shortly before 3.40pm yesterday, Sunday, October 1, when the victim’s Renault collided with a white Scania HGV. Officers attended the scene along with the fire service, an ambulance and the air ambulance.

The driver of the HGV was not injured. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are carrying out inquires and are appealing for any witnesses who haven’t made themselves known. They are also particularly keen to speak to anyone with dash cam footage – either of the incident or of the vehicles beforehand.

Anyone with information is asked to report either online under the police’s report a crime section or via 101, quoting incident number 440 of 1 October.
