A man drove a car missing two tyres while drunk and cops saw “sparks” flying from the vehicle. Officers stopped Paulius Krasausauskas in a black Vauxhall Astra at about 4.30am on the A142 at Soham on September 16.

It was after witnessing “large amounts of sparks” coming from the vehicle, a Cambridgeshire[1] Constabulary[2] spokesperson confirmed. They were shocked to discover he was missing two tyres and the alloy wheels had been scraping across the floor.

Krasausauskas, 38, of Aldreth Road, Haddenham, told police he had been at a friend’s in Peterborough[3] and was driving home. He blew 65 microgrammes at the roadside, almost twice the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.

He later went on to blow 50 while in custody. Sergeant Andrew Owen, who investigated, said: “This case demonstrates the serious impairment alcohol has on a person’s ability to drive safely. Thankfully no other road users were affected by his decision to drive that morning in a vehicle not fit for purpose.”

If you suspect someone of drink driving, you can report it to Cambridgeshire Constabulary through their confidential hotline which is available 24/7 0800 032 0845.
