Man charged after ‘suspicious activity’ in street saw police make …
A man has been charged with preparing to steal from the Leicestershire[1] border after “suspicious activity” was reported. The man was among three, including a teenage boy, arrested following concerns.
Police were called to the scene in Stirling Road, in Woodville, near Ashby[2], on Tuesday, October 3. They were called out following reports of “suspicious activity” in the area at around 11.30pm on the night in question.
At the scene, officers from Derbyshire Police arrested two men and a teenage boy[3], aged 16, on suspicion of going equipped to steal. In an update, the force confirmed it had charged one of the group.
In a statement, police said Elvis Deakin of Swadlincote Road, in Woodville, had been charged with going equipped to steal[5]. The 21-year-old has been remanded to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 19.
Police added that the 16-year-old boy has since been released on police bail. His case has been referred to the Youth Offending Team. Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man also arrested by police has been released without charge. Enquiries are ongoing into the incident.
