Man arrested at Essex KFC for ‘racially aggravated’ public order …
A man has been arrested for assault and “racially aggravated” public order offences after an incident at an Essex KFC restaurant. Police were called to the KFC on Canvey Island High Street yesterday evening (October 24).
Reports online allege a man had jumped the counter and assaulted a member of staff in the restaurant before being restrained until police officers arrived. Essex Police have confirmed a 30-year-old man is in custody following the “disturbance” which happened shortly after 5pm.
A spokesman for the police said: “A man has been arrested in connection with a disturbance at KFC on Canvey Island High Street yesterday evening (Tuesday 24 October). We were called shortly before 5.25pm.
“Officers attended and a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of ABH and a racially or religiously aggravated public order offence. He is currently in custody.
