M6 Toll crash leaves driver in serious condition

A driver was left in a ‘serious condition’ following a crash on the M6 Toll. A stretch of the busy motorway was closed following the single-car collision.

Emergency services, including the Midlands Air Ambulance, were called to the southbound carriageway, between T7 for Cannock[1] and T6 for Chasetown, just after 9am on Monday, October 23. Medics treated the driver of the car at the scene before taking him to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Traffic was temporarily held on both sides, with diverted traffic advised to use the M6 as an alternate route. However all restrictions were removed at around 10.20am when the incident was moved to the hard shoulder.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.06am to a road traffic collision involving one car on the M6 Toll between T7/6 in Brownhills, Walsall[4]. One ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Midland Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

“Upon arrival we found a man who was the driver of the car in a serious condition. He received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene and was conveyed to Royal Stoke University Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.”
