M4 lane reopens after lorry and car crash forces closure

One lane on the M4 was closed westbound following a collision between a lorry and a car. The incident happened between junction 19 (Bristol) and J20 (Almondsbury Interchange) sometime around 6pm.

It is unknown at this time if any other vehicles are involved or if any injuries have been reported. Traffic[1] monitoring service Inrix reported slow traffic in the area on the Wales-bound carriageway.

At 6.05pm, it reported: “Slow traffic and one lane closed due to accident, a car and a lorry involved on M4 westbound from J19 M32 (Bristol) to J20 M5 J15 (Almondsbury Interchange). Lane one (of three) is closed.”

An update at around 7pm from Inrix said the lane had reopened and traffic levels were “returning to normal”.
