Lorry and car involved in A9 crash at Causewaymire

A section of the A9 next to the Causewaymire Wind Farm was closed off into the early hours of Tuesday after a serious accident involving a car and a lorry on Monday afternoon.

Police investigating the scene blocked off a 200m stretch of the road close to the wind farm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a two vehicle crash which happened around 3pm on Monday, October 16, on the A9 between Mybster, B870, and Latheron, A99.

“Officers are in attendance and the road remains closed.”

Traffic Scotland reported the road closure at around 3.30pm on Monday and its spokesperson said: “Drivers are urged to avoid the area and use an alternative route.”

Signed diversions were out in place while investigation work was under way.

The road reopened shortly before 1am on Tuesday, Traffic Scotland said.

There has been no information given about any injuries of those involved at this stage.
