Live M2 Strood traffic updates as two lanes closed after lorry fire

Two lanes of the M2 London-bound are closed this morning and there is two miles of congestion after a lorry fire. Emergency repairs continue today (Friday) after the fire at J2 A228 Sundridge Hill (Strood/Rochester[1]).

Traffic[2] is queueing and there is congestion back over the Medway Viaduct. The fire was at around 6pm on Wednesday. A temporary barrier will be installed later.

National Highways said the fire had caused significant damage to the road and repairs continued. Two people were treated for injuries which “are not believed to be serious”, a Kent Police spokesperson told KentLive. National Highways said the road was likely to reopen “later today”, weather permitting, after repairs to damage caused by the fire.
