Leeds woman crushed under lorry in horror crash – driver arrested

A woman in her 40s has been rushed to hospital after she was trapped under a lorry in Leeds city centre.
The woman suffered life-changing injuries in the horror accident, shortly before 10am on Thursday morning. Local reports say paramedics, firefighters and police raced to the scene and spent around an hour freeing her from underneath the lorry before she was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary.
The lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, with nearby roads remaining closed behind a cordon as police enquiries continue. A statement from West Yorkshire Police[1] read: "Shortly before 10am this morning, emergency services were called to reports of a serious road traffic collision involving a HGV truck and a pedestrian on Mill Hill, Leeds City Centre.
"Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a woman in her forties, was taken to hospital with serious and potentially life changing injuries. The driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. Road closures remain in place on Mill Hill, Boar Lane and Briggate junction."
