1 Ireland’s largest hotelier is to open its first site in Edinburgh with a £48 million investment.

Dalata Hotel Group has acquired a vacant building at 28 St Andrew Square in the capital from Aviva Life & Pensions UK for £12.5 million.

Dalata said[1] there is already planning permission for an extension on the rooftop and at the rear of the A-listed property.

A revised application will be submitted next year and the company hopes a four-star Clayton Hotel with 153 bedrooms, as well as a bar, restaurant and gym, could be completed by the middle of 2026.

2 The development of a North Sea field could move forward
