House blaze causes one person to suffer smoke inhalation
One person has suffered smoke inhalation after a house fire in a Leicestershire[1] village last night. The blaze broke out at a property on Newbold Road, Barlestone, yesterday evening (Monday, October, 30) causing one person living in the house to suffer smoke inhalation. Fire crews are continuing to monitor gas cylinders at the rear of the property.
Emergency services were called to the scene by those living in the house at 8.51pm last night. On arrival, the fire officer in charge decided that more help was needed to combat the fire. Further assistance, crews and various equipment from Market Bosworth, Coalville, Southern, Birstall, Western, Shepshed and Kibworth and Oakham stations attended.
The person who suffered smoke inhalation was cared for by the East Midlands Ambulance Service. However, the ambulance was stood down and the person was “advised to go to the doctors in the morning” according to a spokesperson from the fire service.
An incident report from the fire service suggests that the roof was badly affected by the blaze. Leicestershire Police were also at the scene dealing with traffic.
Fire crews were still dealing with the aftermath of the fire this morning, as a spokesperson for the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed there were still hotspots at the property. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
