Hero local helps rescue woman rescued from River Avon near Bath
A woman was rescued from the River Avon near Bath[1] by fire crews and a local resident earlier today (October 23). Avon Fire and Rescue Service[2] were called to reports of a woman in the water near Newbridge Road at 12.44pm.
Crews from Bath, Bedminster, Hicks Gate and Portishead rushed to the scene alongside police officers and paramedics. They used two boats and water rescue equipment to help the woman out of the water.
Pictures from the scene show multiple emergency service vehicles present. The fire service said that a local resident also helped to rescue the woman as quickly as possible.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “On 23 October at 12:44 pm crews from Bath, Bedminster, Hicks Gate and Portishead were called to reports of a woman in the water. The crews were deployed with two boats and water rescue equipment.
“A local resident supported us in order to rescue her as quickly as possible. We also worked with police and ambulance on the scene.”
