Glasgow residents evacuated after ‘suspicious item’ found near STV …
Police have cordoned off a road near the STV building in Glasgow this evening and staff have been evacuated following reports of a ‘suspicious vehicle’ being found in the car park.
The discovery was made near the headquarters of the broadcaster at Pacific Quay on Tuesday, October 17. Govan Road has been sealed off by police[1] and some vehicles have been turned away from the area on the Clyde Arc road bridge.
It is understood that nearby residents have also been asked to evacuate their homes.
Journalist Hannah Brown wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Pretty rare thing for a Tuesday night. Full evacuation of STV building by police due to “suspicious” item.”
An STV spokesperson said: “Due to a police incident in the area, STV’s offices at Pacific Quay have been evacuated this evening.”
Officers remain at the scene of the ongoing incident. Glasgow Live has contacted Police Scotland for a comment.
