Full weekend closure of A3 up to M25 junction for more than 6 miles
A huge full weekend closure on the A3 up to the M25[1] has been planned which could cause chaos in Surrey, as a huge diversion has been organised for drivers to make their way around. The route will be closed on the A3 at Ripley Bypass at Burntcommon, up to junction 10 at the M25.
This stretch is closed both ways, and will be shut from Friday October 13 till Monday October 16. The closures will be in place from 9pm on Friday, and won’t open till 5.30am on Monday morning.
National Highways are improving the six mile stretch of the M25 junction 10 and the Wisley A3 interchange, as it is an extremely busy area. It is estimated that 270,000 vehicles pass through each day, making it one of the highest collision rate areas across the National Highways network.

However, a diversion has been put into place, away from the closed stretch of road, which is a whopping 19 mile diversion, which could take around 38 minutes to complete. Drivers coming from near the M25’s junction 10, are asked to come off at junction 9, at Leatherhead[2].
From there they will need to follow the A243 down towards the A24, and go straight across at the roundabout towards Fetcham and Great Bookham. From there, follow the road along the A246 through Effingham.
Once at East Horsley, continue straight up to East Clandon. Drivers will reach a junction, where they will turn right up to west Clandon, along the A247. From there drivers can keep going straight till they reach the A3.
