Fatal collision in Upminster. –

A man in his 40s has sadly died after being involved in a collision on the A127, Upminster today.

The incident happened at 1:40pm and it is believed that the man was in collision with a lorry. Despite the efforts of an off duty Met Police officer, the man believed to be 48, passed away at the scene.

A spokesperson for the Met Police told the Havering Daily:

“Police were called by London Ambulance Service (LAS) at 13.40 on Friday, 20 October to the A127, Upminster, to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a lorry.A male pedestrian was found injured. Despite the efforts of emergency services, including an off-duty Met officer, the man, believed aged 48, died at the scene a short time later.Enquiries are ongoing to notify his next of kin.

The lorry driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries.A scene has been put in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”

Any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD 3633/20Oct.
