Exact date rain will start to fall again after Storm Babet chaos

The UK will continue to face travel disruption due to flooding from major rivers following Storm Babet. Flooding has caused problems across Britain’s rail network, including in Birmingham and the West Midlands[1].

As of 5am, 230 flood warnings – where less dangerous flooding is expected – remain in place across England. The Met Office said the West Midlands forecast would be "mostly fine" today, Sunday October 22.

A spokesperson said: "Sunday promises to be a drier and brighter day than of late. The odd shower may develop through the afternoon but some decent spells of sunshine are also expected alongside lighter winds. Temperatures around the seasonal average."

The maximum temperature on Sunday was set to be 14C. Tonight, it will continue to be dry with clear skies - though some patches of low cloud and fog could develop.

For Monday, the Met Office predicted: "Mostly dry on Monday with hazy sunshine once early mistiness clears. Turning breezy and becoming increasingly cloudy through the afternoon with rain arriving from the south later. Temperatures around average. Maximum temperature 15C."

The outlook for Tuesday to Thursday was as follows: "Remaining unsettled through the rest of the week with showers or longer spells of rain. Some drier interludes are possible and often breezy. Temperatures are around average for the time of year."
