Dunfermline: Dundas Homes takes over site from Allanwater
A planning application for 69 new homes from Allanwater Homes was granted in January this year.
A fresh request for permission to construct signs at the site off Carnock Road has now been made by Dundas Homes who have taken over the development set to be called ‘The Railways’.
A spokesperson for Dundas explained: “We’re in the very early stages of our Railways development, which will provide high quality homes to a sought-after area.
“Dundas took over the site in at Carnock Road in March this year and we’ve all been working hard since to progress the development through the planning process.
“Railways will look to bring an exciting, modern development to the market and will offer a broad mix of family homes from three to five bedrooms.”
“We hope to launch the Railways development next year and we’re expecting properties to be available for reservation from Spring 2024 onwards.
“We’d encourage anyone who may be interested to contact us at [email protected].”
The development’s name is a nod to the site’s history as, more than 100 years ago, the land was in use as a quarry with railway lines running through it.
The quarry was filled in by the early 1900s and later became a depot and the rail tracks were removed by 1986.
In February 2016, the council decided to sell the site, and three other depots in Dunfermline, and bring together four services under one roof at a new ‘super depot’ at Halbeath.
Allanwater came forward with plans for the 2.78-hectare depot site in July 2016.
Proposals were submitted in 2020 but later withdrawn, with the council saying the firm had made a mistake in their application.
A new public consultation was launched last April with fresh plans tabled in the summer and planning permission being granted in January.
