Cyclist in ‘fight for life’ after A543 crash with tractor
A cyclist is fighting for his life after a crash involving a tractor near Denbigh[1]. The crash took place this afternoon on the A543, from the A525 (Denbigh) to the A541 (Bodfari).
North Wales Police[2] confirmed it involved a man on a pedal bike and a tractor that was towing a trailer.[3] The road was closed in both directions and remains shut this evening. The cyclist had to be airlifted to hospital in Stoke with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries following the collision.
The collision happened shortly before 4pm. Officers are particularly keen on speaking to the driver of a small white van or car that left the scene but who may have witnessed the collision.
Sergeant Emlyn Hughes of the Roads Crime Unit said: “We are urging the driver of the small white van or car to make contact with us as soon as possible as they may have key information that could assist with our investigation.“ At the time of the appeal [5.30pm], the road stayed closed whilst the emergency services dealt with the incident.
Anybody with information or dash cam footage is asked to contact the force via the live web chat on the website. Alternatively, people can calling 101, quoting incident number A160789.
