Busy town centre road to partially close for two weeks
Station Hill closed southbound. Bluestar services 'severely disrupted'
Station Hill[1], one of Eastleigh’s busiest roads, will be closed in the southbound direction for two weeks starting Monday, October 9, for cycleway improvements.
The closure will affect the stretch of road from the Lidl roundabout to Eastleigh train station, as well as the left-hand turn off Bishopstoke Bridge towards the station. This is to allow for the installation of a new shared cycle and pedestrian crossing.
Work will be carried out day and night, and diversions will be in place to minimise disruption. However, bus services will be affected, and Bluestar has warned that their services to Eastleigh will be “significantly disrupted” over the next two weeks.[2]
This is in addition to the ongoing closure of the bus station.
Bluestar have published the following changes to their services
Bluestar 2 towards Fair Oak – Will remain unchanged and will pickup/drop off at Swan Centre opposite the Rail Station.
Bluestar 2 towards Southampton – Will pickup/drop off at a temporary stop on Leigh Road (near the junction of the Sainsbury’s car park). The service will then divert via Leigh Road and Passfield Avenue to Nightingale Bridge missing normal stops between Eastleigh Rail Station and Spencer Road.Bluestar expect significant delays to Bluestar 2 and suggest passengers get an earlier bus than usual
Bluestar 3 – Will pickup/drop off from the coach stop inside Sainsbury’s car park.
Bluestar 5 – Will pickup/drop off in both directions from the coach stop inside the Sainsbury’s car park. Buses towards Romsey will divert via Leigh Road and Passfield Avenue missing all regular stops between Eastleigh Rail Station and Nightingale Bridge.
Bluestar 23 – Will pickup/drop off from the coach stop inside Sainsbury’s car park.
Bluestar 24 – Will pickup from the coach stop inside the Sainsbury’s car park. Buses heading towards Hedge End will divert via Leigh Road to Passfield Avenue missing all regular stops between Eastleigh Rail Station and Passfield Avenue.
Unilink U1C – Journeys starting from Eastleigh won’t be able to serve Eastleigh Bus Station or the Rail Station, Campbell Road or Derby Road. Journeys will start in the Sainsbury’s car park.
