Busy Edinburgh road flooded and footpath submerged following …
A busy Edinburgh road has been affected by flooding[1] with cars captured on the other side of the road to avoid huge pools of standing water.
One resident on Old Dalkeith Road[2] recorded footage of the stretch of road opposite Inch Park completely flooded due to heavy rainfall on Saturday and claimed that it had been caused by blocked drains.
Cars can be seen passing the standing water while crossing the white lines with the opposite side of the road barely visible. The footpath used by pedestrians has also been submerged in water.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the resident said: “Every time we get any sort of heavy rain, the road floods here on Old Dalkeith Road making it impassable for pedestrians and cyclists and dangerous for drivers. Blocked drains!”
A yellow weather warning is currently in place for much of Scotland with a month’s worth of rainfall expected on Saturday alone. The warning is currently in place for Edinburgh and the Lothians until Sunday morning.
Rail passengers have also been heavily affected by adverse weather as LNER have cancelled all services north of Newcastle with several ScotRail journeys also suffering delays and cancellations.

Motorists braving the torrential downpours are also warned to plan ahead and take extra care due to the possibility of standing water and low visibility. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has also issued a flood alert.
