Bus inspector ‘spat at’ in city after passenger ‘didn’t pay fare’

A bus inspector has been spat at in a vile incident at a Birmingham[1] station. A woman passenger challenged for not having a ticket has spat at the man on the number 97 National Express bus service near by Bordesley[2] rail station on Thursday, October 5, at around 2.10pm.

The bus service runs between Birmingham and Chelmsley Wood[3]. Now the West Midlands Safer Travel Partnership has issued an image of a woman they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

She is a black woman, wearing a lilac beanie hat, a black hooded jacket with black over-ear headphones and a bag with a black strap. Anyone who recognises her is asked to come forward.

A Safer Travel spokesperson issuing the appeal said: “Do you know who this is? We want to speak to her after a bus Inspector was spat on after he challenged a passenger for not paying their fare."

“This happened on the no 97 bus by Bordesley rail station at 2.10pm on Thursday 5 October."

The statement continued: "Anybody with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website quoting reference: 20/520493/23, or call us on 101.

“Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
