There are loads of great Bonfire Night events taking place in Greater Manchester this year.

There are loads of great Bonfire Night events taking place in Greater Manchester this year.

There will be no Manchester council-run Bonfire Night events again this year, but there are plenty of other public events taking place across Greater Manchester, where you will be able to watch some fireworks and eat a toffee apple or two.

This year, the holiday falls on Sunday 5 November, however there will be some events that take place at other times over that weekend and following Halloween. Here are some of the firework displays to look out for this year – including free events.

Fireworks Display. Guy Fawkes Night (also known as Bonfire Night, Fireworks Night) is an annual celebration on the evening of the 5th of November. It celebrates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot of the 5th of November, 1605 in which a number of Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, were alleged to be attempting to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London, England.
It is primarily marked in the United Kingdom.
