Biker killed in Burton after crash with lorry
A biker has died following a collision with a truck in Burton.[1] Emergency services were called out to Wellington Road this morning to reports of a crash.
Now West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed nothing could be done to save the biker, who died at the scene. Meanwhile, the stretch remains shut this morning following the tragedy.
The alarm had been raised at 5.45am, with the ambulance service sending two ambulances and a paramedic officer to the incident. A spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival, we found a man who was the motorcyclist being cared for by bystanders.
“He was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained life-threatening injuries. Ambulance staff administered advanced life support to him but unfortunately, it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene. The driver of the lorry did not require treatment from ambulance staff.”
Staffordshire Police[4] has been approached for a statement on the incident. We will provide further updates on this morning’s fatal collision in our dedicated blog here[5].
The tragedy comes just weeks after 13-year-old Hussein Quig died while cycling to school in another collision with a lorry at the nearby B&Q roundabout.
