Arrest made after police chase involving stolen car near town centre

A man has been arrested near Worthing[1] town centre on Thursday (October 18) after a police chase involving a stolen car. The stolen car, which was taken from Richmond Parade in Brighton[2], was brought to a stop in North Street, Worthing, by several police cars.

At the scene, a 31-year-old man was arrested by Sussex Police[3]. A cordon was put in place and the road, outside Lidl, was closed.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “Police received a report of a stolen car in Richmond Parade, Brighton at about 1.30pm on Thursday, 19 October. Officers stopped the vehicle in North Street, Worthing following a pursuit and arrested a 31-year-old man.”

Pictures taken from the scene show the car stopped on the central reservation. Around six police cars were spotted at the scene alongside a police van.
