Armed police and helicopter deployed in Bristol city centre after …

Armed police officers and a police helicopter were called to Bristol city centre[1] this morning (October 23). Avon and Somerset Police[2] received a report at around 11am of two men acting suspiciously on Lewins Mead.

The force searched the area and spoke to members of the public but could not locate the alleged offenders. Officers had left the scene by 12.15pm.

Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called to Lewins Mead, Bristol, at around 11am today (Monday 23 October) following a single report of two men acting suspiciously.

"Armed officers and the National Air Police Service were deployed to conduct an area tour, spoke with some members of the public and found no trace. The officers and helicopter were stood down at 12.15pm."
