A9 closed near Mybster following two-vehicle crash

A section of the A9 has been closed after a lorry and a car were involved in a crash in the Highlands.

The collision took place on the A9 Inverness to Thurso road next to the Causewaymire Wind Farm at about 3pm.

Police have closed the A9 in both directions between the junction for the B870 at Mybster and the A99 junction at Latheron.

The incident involved two vehicles, believed to be a lorry and a car.

There are no reports of an injuries at this point.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area^[1] and use an alternative route until further notice.

A 37-mile signed diversion is now in place.

Northbound traffic is being guided onto the A99 towards Wick then onto the A882, with southbound traffic to follow the same route in the opposite direction.

A police spokeswoman said: “Officers were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash which happened around 3pm on Monday, October 16, on the A9 between Mybster, B870, and Latheron, A99.

“Officers are in attendance and the road remains closed.”
