A44 Pitchers Hill crash: Woman killed in three car-car collision

A woman has been killed in a three-car crash in the Cotswolds. The fatal collision happened on the A44 Evesham Road[1] at Pitchers Hill at 4.26pm on Monday (October 23).

Two other people were taken to hospital after the collision which closed the road just across the Gloucestershire border in Worcestershire[2]. One of the drivers of the car was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to hospital.

The woman who died was a passenger in one of the cars. She was in a critical condition after the collision on the road between Evesham and Broadway and despite the efforts of ambulance staff[3], she was confirmed dead at the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity from Strensham to the scene. An ambulance from South Western Ambulance Service also attended.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered a woman, who was a passenger in one of the cars, in a critical condition. They immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

“A man, who was the driver of one of the cars, was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken by land ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. A second man was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch by land ambulance. A third man was assessed and discharged at the scene.”

It is the latest fatal incident at the scene. A man riding a motorbike died[6] on the stretch of road at 5.30am on Friday, August 11. The night before, August 10, a man died following a crash involving three vehicle[7] s at 8.30pm.
