A34 reopens after lorry crash near Abingdon this morning

1pm: One lane is now open on both carriageways of the A34.

The southbound carriageway had been closed completely since the crash just before 6am this morning.

A lorry crashed through the central reservation and repairs are currently ongoing to the emergency barrier.

One lane remains closed in each direction to allow these ongoing repairs to continue.

Traffic remains heavy in the area.

11am: Part of the A34 remains closed this morning (Tuesday) after a lorry crashed through the central reservation.

The road is shut, southbound, between the A4183 at Kennington and the A415 at Abingdon.

One lane of the northbound carriageway has also now been closed while emergency repairs to the barriers take place.

Emergency services were all called to the scene just before 6am and the whole carriageway was initially closed for around an hour.

A diversion is in place and National Highways said “barrier repairs will be ongoing into the afternoon”.

There remains long delays both ways.
