A12 to face night closures for two weeks as ?37m project continues
The southbound carriageway of the A12 is set to face numerous night closures in October as work on a huge £37million project continues onto a new part of the road. The construction work on National Highways' project to improve the road surface of the A12 has been progressing for some time, but now work will move onto the southbound carriageway this month.
The A12 will be affected from junctions 25 to 26 between Marks Tey and Stanway, as part of the project to remove the old concrete surface of the carriageway between the junctions and replace it with a new asphalt finish in order to make travelling smoother, quieter, and safer.
As work is almost complete on the northbound carriageway, National Highways will shortly begin work on the southbound side. That means the current contraflow system needs to be moved and both the north and southbound carriageways will be temporarily closed over the coming weeks.
This work is scheduled to take place overnight, with the northbound side, set to be closed from Monday 9 Oct between 9pm - 5am for two weeks. The southbound A12 will then be closed for set periods towards the end of October to complete the contraflow switch. Full details can be found below:
