Woman hit by tile thrown by man ‘acting erratically’ on roof

A woman was hit in the head by a tile after a man climbed on a roof and began throwing them.

Police[1] were called to Cassino Road, Huyton[2], to reports of concerns for safety at around 4.50pm on Monday, September 11. At the scene they found a man, in his 20s, was acting erratically on a roof.

The suspect, who didn't have any shoes on, climbed onto the roof of a house[3] and began to throw tiles down at people. One of the tiles hit a woman, who suffered a cut to the head.

The man then climbed down from the roof and ran into a nearby garden, where he reportedly assaulted the owner.[5] He was detained by officers and taken to hospital to be medically assessed.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police[6] said: "We were called to Cassino Road in Huyton at around 4.50pm yesterday, Monday 11th September, following a concern for safety. A man in his 20s was seen acting erratically and was reported to have climbed on a roof and thrown tiles down.

"A woman suffered a cut to the head as a result of being hit by a tile. Patrols arrived and the man came down from the roof and ran into the garden of a neighbouring property where he reportedly assaulted the occupier.

"The man was detained by officers and taken to hospital to be medically assessed. An enquiry into the incident is ongoing."
