A woman arrested on suspicion of murder after the sudden death of a man at a home in Melton[1] has been released with no further action. The 69-year-old woman was arrested after officers were called to an address in Ferneley Crescent by East Midlands Ambulance Service[2] at 11.50pm on Wednesday.

The man, in his 70s, was found unresponsive and was later pronounced dead at the scene. A woman at the address was arrested.

However, police have now said they are no longer treating the man’s death as suspicious. A file is being prepared and submitted to the coroner.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police[4] said: “A woman arrested following the death of a man in Melton Mowbray has been released from custody with no further action.

“Police launched an investigation after officers were called to an address in Ferneley Crescent shortly after 11.50pm last night (Wednesday 20 September). It was reported a man in his 70s was unresponsive and had subsequently been pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers have been carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and can now confirm the death is being treated as non-suspicious. The 69-year-old woman who was arrested has been released.”
