Vauxhall driver ‘smashed into police car purposefully’ after A12 …
Two people have been arrested following a police chase yesterday (September 24) on the A12 that left a police officer injured. The incident happened on the A-road between Boreham and Hatfield Peveral, at around 12.15 pm, after a Vauxhall Combo failed to stop for Essex Police officers when it was signalled to pull over.
This prompted a pursuit to start as the vehicle reportedly continued through Witham, Hatfield Peveral, Woodham Mortimer, Danbury, and Chelmsford areas without stopping. Essex Police stated the car intentionally crashed into an unmarked police vehicle on the A12 (Witham), causing significant damage to the police car.
An officer was reported to have suffer minor injuries following the collision. The car was stopped successfully at the A12 (Witham North) by Essex Police’s Roads Policing Unit, Road Crime Team, Operational Support Group, Dog Section and Local Policing resources.
Police published an appeal about the incident on the day of the incident pleading for witnesses to come forward. In the appeal, a spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses or dash cam footage following two arrests in connection with a cloned vehicle, earlier today.
“Officers reported a Vauxhall Combo failed to stop for them on the A12, between Boreham and Hatfield Peveral on the A12, at around 12.15pm on Sunday 24 September. It was then reported the vehicle continued without stopping through Witham, Hatfield Peveral, Woodham Mortimer, Danbury and Chelmsford areas before being brought to a safe and successful stop at the A12, Witham North, through a coordinated effort by Essex Police’s Roads Policing Unit, Road Crime Team, Operational Support Group, Dog Section and Local Policing resources.
“During the incident, the Vauxhall Combo, intentionally collided with an unmarked police vehicle on the A12 at Witham, causing significant damage. Fortunately, no one has been seriously injured, but one officer sustained minor injuries as a result.”
