MULTIPLE cars have been damaged during a ‘hit and run’ crash in Boscombe.

Residents described hearing “squealing” and “bangs” when a car hit parked vehicles during a police chase on North Road on Monday night.

They said how the car ploughed into a front garden and the occupants 'fled on foot'.

Dorset Police have confirmed the car had failed to stop for officers in the area of Shelley Road East in Bournemouth[1].

The Daily Echo spoke to a number of residents following the incident. One woman said: “I realised something was happening when I saw all the police flashing lights.

“The car had crashed into the garden wall. It all happened so quick. It was so distressing.”

Another resident said: “I was in my kitchen and then I heard some car squealing noises and then a couple of bumps, and then I saw flashing blue lights.

“I went out and saw the car had gone through my neighbour’s fence and their wall.”

One resident, whose car was damaged, said: “I didn’t see it, but I saw it on the ring doorbell camera. We heard a loud bang.

“Our car was hit; it was knocked right back. We can’t move it.”

Another resident said: “I was with my daughter at home. I heard a bang, but I didn’t know what it was.

“Then, when I saw the lights of the police car, I went to the window and realised something was happening.

“My daughter told me she could see a car in the neighbour’s garden.”

A spokesperson for the force said: “We received a report at 8.49pm on Monday, September 25, that a vehicle had failed to stop for officers in the area of Shelley Road East.
