Rail[1] services were diverted on Tuesday evening after reports of a “person on the line.”

Network Rail[2] confirmed they were working with emergency services[3] to remove them from the track. Services were diverted through Cowdenbeath while officers continued efforts.

Reports of the incident were made just after 6.30pm.

ScotRail tweeted: “There’s a person on the line near Kirkcaldy – we can’t run trains through the area until we know they’re safely out the way.

“We’re diverting trains via Cowdenbeath wherever possible. Thanks for your patience.”

Network Rail added: “We’re assisting the emergency services near Kirkcaldy, who are currently working to remove a person from the track.”
