The tiny village tourists visit every day where M25 and A3 meet
In the heart of Surrey is a little village people flock to every day. Wisley is a tiny neighbourhood sandwiched between Byfleet[1], Cobham[2] and Ripley, and it is where the A3 and M25[3] meet.
The motorway is notoriously busy, yet the village offers a quiet sanctuary of peace and tranquillity. While thousands of motorists drive past Wisley on their commute to work, many stop to have a look around the community’s main attraction – RHS Garden Wisley.
The famous garden is known across the UK for its horticultural excellence and it hosts a number of events throughout the year including the recent Flower Show which ran from September 5 to 10. The gorgeous grounds will also be turned into a winter wonderland for the annual Glow Christmas[4] event returning on November 24 to January 2.
The gardens are one of Surrey’s top family attractions, and there are always activities for children, plenty of space to run around and some lovely walks around the site. There is an education centre, an enchanting woodland, pond to see fish, a warm glasshouse and plenty of spots to picnic.
There are also numerous cafes and coffee shops offering breakfasts, lunch, cakes, snacks and child friendly meals. It is not dog-friendly, however, there are walks outside the garden including Wisley Common.
The River Wey trickles through the village offering additional peaceful strolls, and can be reached via Wisley Common car park situated south of the village. Most of the neighbourhood is made up of gardens and common land, and both the prestigious Wisley Golf Club and Pyrford Golf Course is on the doorstep.
There are not many houses or shops in Wisley. However there are lots of community facilities in the neighbouring villages of West Byfleet and Ripley.
Find Wisley: RHS Wisley is a good starting point – Address: Wisley Lane, Wisley, GU23 6QB. The car park is free, but there is a few to enter the gardens.
