Storm Agnes hour-by-hour forecast for northern Lincolnshire

Storm Agnes is set to arrive today with a 19-hour weather warning coming into force at midday as a spell of “strong and disruptive winds” pass over the UK.

Though the strongest winds are expected to affect Northern Ireland, southwest Scotland, west and northwest Wales, Cumbria and Lancashire it is likely to still be fairly gusty around northern Lincolnshire from Wednesday afternoon and into the early hours of Thursday while a band of rain is also set to affect the region between 1pm and 10pm.

In the worst affected areas of the UK, the first named storm of the season could bring a risk of “injuries and danger to life from flying debris”, says the Met Office, along with a chance of “some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs”. There is also a “chance of injuries and danger to life that could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties, with a chance of some minor flooding of coastal roads”.

Power cuts are also possible in some places while road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected by the stormy conditions. In the Grimsby and Scunthorpe area, the Met Office has issued a yellow-level weather warning which is in effect from 12pm on Wednesday until 7am on Thursday.

The warning area also covers most of northern England and the Midlands, along with Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. In the alert, the Met Office says “gusts of 45-55mph are expected widely inland and 50-60mph over hills and around coasts”.
