Replacement Newcastle to Edinburgh rail bus service as …

National Rail have alerted travellers[1] between Edinburgh[2] and Newcastle that a replacement bus service will be in place due to engineering works on Saturday September 23 and Sunday 24.

Several rail providers are impacted by the works taking place between Newcastle and Berwick-Upon-Tweed, these include: CrossCountry, LNER, Lumo, Northern and TransPennine Express.

LNER, Lumo and TransPenine are the services most likely to disrupt those travelling to and from the capital over the weekend.

The works have resulted in all lines being closed over the two day period which has led to replacement bus services between Newcastle and Edinburgh.

In a statement released online, LNER stated: “A reduced train service will run between Newcastle and Edinburgh, with trains diverting to run by an alternative route. Journey times will be extended by up to 2 hours. On Saturday, an additional shuttle service will operate between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Edinburgh, with Rail Replacement coaches available between Newcastle, Morpeth, Alnmouth and Berwick-upon-Tweed.
