Police swarm town after report of ‘women fighting at shopping site’

A number of police officers were called to Sutton Coldfield[1] town centre after officers received reports of trouble at a shopping park. A police van and two police cars with around half a dozen police officers swooped on Station Street by The Station pub and Sutton Coldfield Railway Station on Tuesday (September 5) evening.

Police had received a report of two women fighting at the nearby Newhall Walk shopping park just off The Parade in the town at around 5.25pm. The police officers detained the women.

One woman was seen in the back of the police car and was shouting at officers. But West Midlands Police[2] has said the fight did not result in any injuries and neither woman wanted to press charges.

A spokesman for the force said: “We received a report of a fight between two women in Newhall Walk at around 5.25pm on Tuesday (September 5). No-one was injured.

"We spoke to them both and neither wanted to make a report.”
