Police issue statement over Newcastle ‘disorder’

Police ‘spoke with a number of boys’ after reports of town centre disorder. Shoppers had spotted paramedics and officers in Newcastle on Saturday.

Now Staffordshire Police[1] have said they were called to one incident at around 4.05pm. That came on the same day that paramedics had earlier in the afternoon dealt with reports of a ‘medical emergency’.

But the force has told StokeonTrentLive that wasn’t an incident officers attended. Instead cops were brought in later in the afternoon.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to High Street, in Newcastle-under-Lyme, shortly after 4.05pm following reports of disorder. Officers went to the scene and spoke with a number of boys in the area.”

StokeonTrentLive had previously reported[5] how two ambulances and the Midland Air Ambulance’s Critical Care Car were called to High Street at 2.30pm to reports of a ‘medical emergency.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Upon arrival we found a woman. She was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained serious injuries. She received treatment at the scene and was conveyed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital[6] for further assessment.”
