Person found dead on tracks at Minster railway station

Emergency services were called to Minster railway station this morning (September 25) to reports of a casualty on the tracks. Police, firefighters and paramedics raced to the scene[1] just before 10.30am.

Now, a spokesman for British Transport police has confirmed the nature of the incident. Sadly, the spokesman said the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Southeastern warned passengers that a number of services were suspended as a result of the incident. A spokesman for the train operator confirmed a person was hit by a train.

They said: “A person has been hit by a train in the Minster area, the emergency services are still on site.”

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Minster station just before 10.30am today (25 September) to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Some services are still affected and a rail replacement bus service is in place.
