Pedestrian struck by car on Handsworth street

A pedestrian and two other women were injured following a collision with a car. Police closed the street in Handsworth[1] after the incident this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Grove Lane, at the junction with Soho Road, just after 2.30pm, today, Monday, September 25. Three patients were treated at the scene by paramedics.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to work at the scene. It reopened almost two hours later.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service[4] spokesman told BirminghamLive: "We were called to reports of a two-vehicle RTC at the junction of Grove Lane and Soho Road at 2.35pm. Two ambulances and two paramedic officers attended the scene. We assessed three patients, all women, all of whom were able to be treated and discharged at the scene."

NX West Midlands had taken to X to post: "Due to an incident at Grove lane #Handsworth. 101 From City Centre ONLY using Soho Road, Rookery Road and Oxhill Road Grove lane is not being used presently Sorry for any disruption caused."

It later added: "Incident has cleared at Grove lane #Handsworth. 101 back to following the normal line of route in both directions Sorry for any disruption caused Thank you for your cooperation."
