Neston train station ranks in top 30 worst across UK for cancellations …
New data collated by On Times Trains has revealed how each railway station in the UK has performed so far in 2023.
Neston railway station, where trains run with Transport for Wales (TfW) was ranked 2,593rd best out of 2,616 stations across the UK.
This puts the station in the top worst 30 across the country, at number 23.
The daily performance graph also shows how Neston ranks on each day over a selected period.
Higher ranks in green indicate punctual departures and arrivals with no cancellations.
The graph shows the station nearly every day from June to September in a 'poor' rating, showing as red.
TfW's other station in Heswall, was also ranked in the worst 30 stations, coming in at 2,594th out of 2,615.
In June, Transport for Wales (TfW) announced a five-step improvement plan for rail services on the Wrexham to Bidston line in North Wales and the borders.
The five-step plan included improving the reliability of the new Class 230 trains through investment into the new depot at Birkenhead, improving customer service and information available during disruption and keeping all rail replacement to a minimum.
James Price, Transport for Wales CEO, said: "We understand the frustrations of passengers using the Wrexham to Bidston line over the past few months. First, the line lost its train service due to a safety issue with engines on our trains and this resulted in replacement buses running.
"Following that, we introduced our refurbished Class 230 trains to the line and unfortunately, we’ve experienced teething problems and technical issues.
"I’ve visited the new depot in Birkenhead that will allow us to carry out maintenance on our Class 230s at a faster pace and have assured myself that we are doing everything possible to see an improvement in the service over the coming months."
