Motorists ‘walking dogs’ on motorway during crash closure
People have been seen getting out of their cars and walking their dogs on the M5 after a crash closed the motorway on Friday (September 22). A motorist stuck in the jam just south of Worcester said many people had been getting out of their cars.
A lorry and a van have been involved in a serious crash between junction 8 for the M50 and junction seven for Worcester and Evesham. An air ambulance has been called to the scene in Worcestershire with the northbound carriageway closed.
One driver said she had been stuck for around 40 minutes. She said: “People have been getting out of their cars and walking their dogs.”

She added that she had seen a number of emergency vehicles heading to the scene. These included unmarked police cars and fire engines.”
The latest from traffic and travel service Inrix says: “Severe delays and two lanes closed due to accident, a lorry and a van involved on M5 Northbound between J8 M50 and J7 A44 (Worcester / Evesham). Congestion to J10 (Cheltenham). The opposite side is congested back to J6 (Worcester) due to onlookers.”
The motorway was fully closed until around 13:40 after being fully closed for nearly an hour. Surrounding routes were congested as people avoided the closure.
