Mass disruption as trains set to be cancelled across Norfolk next …

Trains running between Norwich and Cromer, Sheringham, Great Yarmouth, and Lowestoft will be cancelled across four weekends this October due to track maintenance work. The work will take place every weekend from Saturday, October 7 to Sunday, November 5.

Replacement bus services will run between Norwich and Sheringham every weekend, except for October 14 and 15, when the railway will remain open. Buses will call at all stations except Gunton.

On the East Suffolk line, buses will replace trains between Lowestoft and Halesworth on October 14 and 15 only. Connecting trains will operate between Halesworth and Ipswich.

On the weekends of October 28 and 29, and November 4 and 5, buses will also replace trains between Norwich and Great Yarmouth, Lingwood and Reedham and Norwich and Lowestoft. Buckenham, Haddiscoe, and Somerleyton stations will not be served by rail replacement buses due to inaccessible roads.

The maintenance work aims to reduce dips in the rails in order to give passengers a smoother ride.

Jamie Burles, managing director of Greater Anglia, said: “This work is extremely important to help maintain the safe and reliable running of the railway – we would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding while this work is carried out.

“A rail replacement service will run while the work takes place and passengers are advised to check before they travel and allow more time for their journey.” To see more about how your journey might be affected, click here.[2]
