A pedestrian was badly hurt after colliding with a car in a "serious" crash that blocked a busy city centre[1] road. Highgate Middleway was closed from Camp Hill Circus to Haden Circus yesterday afternoon, September 24.
West Midlands Police[2] said it was dealing with a significant incident and warned the stretch would remain closed for "some time". The road acts as a key route in and out of Birmingham.
Emergency crews were at the scene and a diversion was in place. Our reporter said an ambulance left the area around 5.30pm.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson added: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian at the junction of Camp Hill Middleway and Highgate Middleway at 1.57pm yesterday, September 24. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.
"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian. He was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by land ambulance."
