Man rushed to hospital after lorry and car crash on A13
A man was rushed to hospital following a crash on the A13 Westbound in Orsett yesterday (August 31). Emergency services were called from 12.30pm following reports of a collision.
Essex Police, Essex Country Fire and Rescue, and East of England Ambulance Service attended the scene. When emergency workers arrived, a lorry and car were found to be involved in the collision and a vehicle had left the roadway.
Firefighters rescued a trapped person after the car left the road and rescued them by 2pm. A man was injured and taken to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for further assessment and care
The crash caused two lanes to be closed, long delays, and slow traffic as emergency services dealt with the incident. Traffic reports indicated the traffic was cleared at around 3.21pm.
An Essex Police spokesperson said: “We were called about 12.30pm on Thursday 31 August to reports of a collision on the A13 westbound carriageway, close to the junction with the A1012. At the scene we found a lorry and car had been involved in a collision.
“One man sustained injuries and was taken to hospital. The road was temporarily closed so emergency services could support those involved in the collision and clear the scene.”
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “One ambulance was sent to the westbound A13 this afternoon following reports of a road traffic collision. One man was transported to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for further assessment and care.”
An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on the A13 at Orsett Cock at 12:47pm. On arrival, three crews reported that a vehicle had left the road way and a person was trapped.
“Firefighters worked to rescue the person by 2pm.”
