Man found dead as emergency crews swarm Stoke-on-Trent street

A man has been found dead at a Stoke-on-Trent industrial unit. Emergency services descended on Newport Lane, in Middleport, where witnesses say part of the stretch was 'taped off' at the weekend.

Today and West Midlands Ambulance Service[1] has confirmed that sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police and paramedics had been called to the incident at 8pm on Saturday night.

StokeonTrentLive reported[2] how one witness saw the emergency services line the road with an area 'taped off'.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "An ambulance and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene after a report of a death at an industrial unit on Newport Lane. The 999 call was received at around 8pm on Saturday night. On arrival, ambulance staff confirmed a death at the scene."

Staffordshire Police[3] are not treating the death as suspicious.
