Man dies after being hit by a falling tree in Faversham

A man was killed this morning (September 22) in Faversham[1] by a falling tree. The tragic accident happened[2] at just before 7.15am in Box Lane.

The lane was closed in both directions while emergency services dealt with the incident. The cyclist was fatally struck by the tree in the narrow, rural country lane with hedgerows and many trees.

The lane leads to Stalisfield Road at one end, and Eastling Road at the other. It reopened at about 2pm.

Kent Police[3] officers and crews from South East Coast Ambulance[4] attended. A police spokesman told KentLive: “Kent Police was called at 7.30am today (Friday, September 22) to a report that a cyclist had been struck by a falling tree in Box Lane, Faversham.”

“Officers attended to assist medical crews from South East Coast Ambulance Service, and a man was confirmed deceased at the scene. Next of kin have been informed and the matter will now be passed to the coroner.”

The man’s identity has not been made public.
