M5 lane closed after multi-vehicle crash in Bristol – updates

A lane is closed on the M5 this evening (September 19) following a crash. The incident has been reported on the motorway in Bristol.

According to traffic[1] monitoring website Inrix, the incident happened between junctions 18 (M49) and 19 (Portishead[2]). Inrix adds the crash occurred on the Devon-bound side of the motorway and involved a car, van and lorry.

A map on Inrix suggests the incident might have happened on the Avonmouth[3] Bridge, which crosses the M5 over the Avon. The post adds the incident has been moved to the hard shoulder, but a lane closure remains.
